35 year old Georgia weightlifter Kulsoom Abdullah scored a victory for herself and American Muslims today. The International Weightlifting Federation modified its policy to allow her to cover her hair, arms and legs when competing in the USA Weightlifting Senior Nationals in July in Iowa. Abdullah was on the brink of qualifying for the American Open tournament last year when she was eliminated because long sleeves might prevent judges from seeing if her elbows were locked.
